The Riddet Institute of Massey University in New Zealand is proud sponsor of the 2020 award. The Riddet Institute was established in 2003 at Massey University, Palmerston North and was accorded Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) status in 2007 by the New Zealand government. Significant government and industry funding brings together leading researchers from around the country and internationally to expand the scientific knowledge of foods, food structures, and digestive and metabolic processes.
The Award provides Young Scientists from around the world the opportunity to attend the IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology, and to address the world community of food science and technology assembled there. The 2020 World Congress will be held in Auckland, New Zealand between August 17 – 20, 2020.
IUFoST Adhering Bodies, Fellows and Committee Members are encouraged to nominate a deserving candidate from their region. Seven nominees will be selected by a team of judges to receive the Award.
The Young Scientists must be in their first post-doctoral position or first academic position and be age 35 or under. Each nomination must include (i) one page description about the research that the candidate has done or is currently working on and his/her future research perspectives; (ii) four (4) selected peer review international publications reflecting to the excellent quality of the candidate’s work and (iii) statements of recommendation from their professors or most recent employer. The nominee cannot put himself/herself forward. The nomination must come from a nominator together with the supporting documents for the nomination.
The candidates should exemplify food science and technology nationally and internationally and be able to present their research with confidence in a plenary setting. Their research focus should resonate with the Congress theme, “Food for a Changing World” and have international application.
